Virtual Homeland Ljungby 360: the future through a VR headset.
Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan, a Swedish adult-education association, runs a project in which older residents of Ljungby — a town in Småland, southern Sweden — use virtual reality to watch the building process for their future neighbourhoods, and gain a voice in how the town develops. The project is called Virtuell Hembygd Ljungby 360, and our brief was a film about it for social media.

The brief
The film had to work on social media: catch the viewer's attention and hold their interest, while carrying the project's message and vision — how virtual reality can change life for the town's older residents by letting them see, and influence, what is about to be built.
The approach
Films about VR tend to lean on 3D animation or CGI. We chose the human side instead — what the experience does to the person trying it. We invited a few older residents who had never tried VR before into our studio and let them experience the project's VR simulation. Then we filmed their reactions and expressions as they saw the future of their town.
The result
An honest film, made with simple means. The shoot needed no expensive or complex equipment or software — the participants' experience carries the story.

The 360° film · a separate commission
Ljungby 360°: real study visits across Ljungby's business community.
The 360° film had a different client: Ljungby Municipality. After the first film about digital study visits, we were commissioned to document a series of real ones, in which students went out to several companies in Ljungby's business community. The film follows the students' own experience — their curiosity, their questions and the insights they took away from the visits.
At the premiere of the first film, the students spoke openly about their thoughts and what they had learned, from both the digital and the actual study visits. The film exists in several lengths and formats for social media. See also Ljungby Municipality — Study Visit.
