Swedrive: one day of filming, three films and a whole archive.

We spent a full day with Swedrive, an industrial company in Lagan, southern Sweden, filming in its offices and on the factory floor. The day ran to a tightly structured plan with one aim: to capture as much material as possible. The result is a film bank — a video archive of the company's premises, production, people and work.

From that archive, we have since delivered three films at a low cost, among them a company film in English and a recruitment film. Whenever Swedrive needs a new film, it can be ordered from the same archive — for far less than starting a new production each time. That brings flexibility: films come as and when they are needed.

One of three films from the film bank.

Swedrive has been based in Lagan since 1973 and develops customer-specific electromechanical transmission solutions. The film takes in the offices, the machine shop, assembly and the warehouse — then heads out to environments where downtime is not an option.

We'll show the other two films once Swedrive has published them.

From a plan to films on demand.

The method is built for businesses with something worth showing: planning and filming happen once, and after that, the films are made in the edit suite.

01

Before — the plan

We draw up a detailed plan for the filming day: which settings, tasks and people to film, in what order and for how long. It is tight on purpose — every hour on site should yield footage that can carry many films to come.

02

During — the filming day

A full day on site, in the offices and on the factory floor. We work through the plan scene by scene and cast the net wide — spaces, details, machines, people at work — with more than one film in mind.

03

After — the film bank

Everything we shoot goes into a film bank: a structured video archive of the company. It is an asset that lasts — not raw footage left sitting on a hard drive once the first film is finished.

04

Then — films on demand

When a need comes up — a recruitment drive, a trade fair, a social media post — you order a new film. We edit it from the archive, at a low cost and with no new production to plan.

Same need, two different sums.

A company rarely needs just one film. Both routes can produce good films — the difference lies in what each new one asks of you.

The usual way

A new production every time

  • Every film starts from scratch — idea, planning, filming
  • Each new shoot takes time away from day-to-day work
  • The full production cost comes back with every new film
  • Films get put off until they justify a whole production

The method

A film bank

  • One plan, one filming day — and the groundwork is done
  • The camera comes in for one day, not for every film
  • Each new film is edited from the archive at a low cost
  • You order as the need arises — as many films as it takes

Film the business properly once. From then on, every new film is an order — not a new project.

One archive, many kinds of film.

From Swedrive's archive, we have made a recruitment film and a company film, among others. A film bank isn't tied to a single purpose. Here are some examples of what it can be used for.

  • A recruitment film whenever you're hiring
  • Employer branding — what it's like to work for you
  • A company presentation for the website, sales meetings and trade fairs
  • Product and process films from the factory floor
  • Short clips for LinkedIn and other social channels
  • Internal communications and onboarding for new starters

The same principle, in your own hands.

Our work for Swedrive is the agency version of a simple insight: a structured archive of your own company beats starting from scratch every time. We film, you order.

For companies that would rather make the films themselves, there is Film Backpack. You add short clips to your own archive, sorted into ready-made categories, pick a template — recruitment, product video or sustainability, for example — and get a finished film, made on your own computer. Your video files are never uploaded to Film Backpack's servers.

Swedrive

One planned day of filming produced a film bank of Swedrive's business — and from it, three films at a low cost, including a recruitment film and a company film. New films can be ordered from the archive whenever Swedrive needs them, without starting a new production.
